Michael Lorenzen got called up and made his pitching debut:
Lorenzen walked one and struck out five. He threw 107 pitches, 68 strikes – the most pitches he has thrown as a professional. The high pitch count was the result of getting behind to hitters.
“He really didn’t establish the off-speed stuff for strikes early in the outing,” Reds manager Bryan Price said. “I think they were able to sit on fastballs when he needed a strike.”
